Yoshira Ornelas Van Horne

My name is Yoshi and I am a PhD candidate in Environmental Health Sciences. My dissertation ‘Exposures and Health Risks of the Diné Communities Impacted by the Gold King Mine Spill’ focuses on understanding the impacts of the 2015 Gold King Mine Spill through a community-based research approach. I am interested in bridging the gap between community-based participatory research and exposure science. Specifically, I want to continue working with Indigenous communities facing environmental disasters and find sustainable interventions to reduce their exposures.
