Liora Fiksel

My name is Liora Fiksel and I am a University of Arizona College of Public Health graduate (May 2018). I began working on the Hopi Environmental Health Project (HEHP) as an undergraduate honors student. My research interests were in the Hopi Tribe diet and annual exposure to dietary As. This project gave my last year at the University a lot of purpose. Working on HEHP built my awareness of the importance of community-based research and cultural understanding. I learned the significance of a multi-faceted approach to public health interventions with the goal of improving health outcomes. This project fueled my passion for the intersection of environmental health and social justice and was a great introduction to research. In July 2018, I relocated to Berkeley, California for a position with Conduent Healthy Communities Institute as a public health data researcher. I plan to eventually pursue a master program in environmental health with a concentration in international development.
