About Us

The Center for Indigenous Environmental Health Research is housed within the UA Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health and Northern Arizona University. It is a Center of Excellence on Environmental Health Disparities Research, supported by the National Institute of Health’s National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, the National Institute on Minority Health and Health and the Environmental Protection Agency. The center utilizes a community-based participatory research approach for all of its research and outreach projects. The center partners with rural and urban American Indian and Alaska Native communities to build capacity to measure and determine the contribution of environmental exposures to health inequities and support efforts to address these threats.
